Carmen Andrews-Sánchez - Spanish

Fun way to learn spanish Carmen Andrews-Sánchez has been teaching high school Spanish for 12 years. She currently teaches at Silverado High School in Las Vegas, NV where she also serves as the Foreign Language Department Coordinator.

Online spanish classes Carmen holds a B.A. degree in Sociology/Anthropology from Earlham College that included study at Estudio Internacional Sampere in Madrid and at the Universidad Compostelana in Santiago de Compostela, Spain. She spent two years as a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic after earning her first B.A. degree. She holds a second B.A. degree in Secondary Education with a major in Spanish from the University of Wyoming. In 2006 Carmen earned her M.A. in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Phoenix.

Carmen has been using Comprehension-Based Methods in her classroom since the fall of 2000. Carmen was recognized by the Clark County School District in 2005 as a Southeast Region Distinguished Educator. In 2003 Carmen co-authored Look, I Can Talk More! with Blaine Ray and Michael Thompson. Since 2000 she has presented workshops nationally on Comprehension-Based Methods as well as specifically using Comprehension-Based Methods in the upper levels, including in Advanced Placement courses. Carmen has presented for Blaine Ray Workshops since 2001. She has been the National Spanish Exam Coordinator for the State of Nevada since 2001 and has served in a number of positions in the local Clark County Foreign Language Teachers Association, including President, Vice-President and Secretary. She also has served as the Fair Chair, Language Bowl Chair, Judges Chair and Activities Chair for the CCFLTA Foreign Language Fair.
